Lent is the period of six weeks (40 days not including Sundays) leading up to Easter, one of the most important festivals in the Christian calendar. During Lent it is quite common to find that people give up Chocolate and Sweets or other items or habits. This year we are suggesting that instead of giving something up, why not take the opportunity to give something instead. Inspired by the traditional advent calendars found in the build up to Christmas the Trussell Trust have created AdLent Calendars – the opportunity to donate an item on each of the 40 days. Once donated these items will then be distributed to people in need and who are referred to the Foodbank over the Easter period.
We’ve created our own AdLent Calendar for the Hertford & District Foodbank which can be found below, we’ve made suggestions for items which could be donated each day, but of course any donations are always appreciated. All we ask is that any food that is donated is in date.
